PUTRAJAYA: National carmaker Proton has revealed the name of its latest model as Proton Preve (pronounced 'prae-veh').

The much anticipated announcement came after weeks of public speculation on the name of the sedan, which has so far been codenamed P3-21A.

Proton Holdings Berhad group managing director Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the name is derived from the English word preve which means 'to prove' (a point).

"The name is in line with our vision to prove that the car is a global car with global standards," Syed Zainal Abidin said at a press conference at the Maritime Centre here Wednesday.

Proton Preve sudahpun dicipta dan telahpun dujual di pasaran. Proton Preve dikeluarkan bagi menggantikan kereta Proton Persona yang telah lama dikeluarkan. Ia bukanlah seperti sesetengah orang fikirkan yang mengatakan bahawa Preve itu adalah Tuah ataupun P3 - 21A. Ianya adalah rekaan lain dan namanya turut lain. So, ianya keluaran lain lah....
